Who is Megan Vice? If you’re not sure, then you’ve been living under a rock. This indie artist is a rising pop star with a funky fresh sound. Her single, “All of the Time” featuring Fake Money is exactly the song you want to download for the summer.
You can hear her musical influences in her vocals and sound. Artists like Daft Punk, Taylor Dane, Vanity, Prince, and a little Sheila E all came to mind when I heard, “All of the Time.” And let me not forget Apollonia 6, “Sex Shooter.”
It’s a sound that we haven’t heard in awhile. Plus, with our recent loss of Prince, we need artists like Megan Vice to keep that particular sound alive.
Megan Vice is a gritty glam diva whose new album “Spread The News” is where future pop meets retro. If Prince were still alive, we believe he would be jamming to Megan Vice. Her vocals are sharp with distant range.
You might be quick to draw comparisons to a wide array of artists from disco to glam rock to 90’s R&B and 2000’s future pop, but in “Spread The News”, Megan Vice proves that her tongue-in-cheek lyrical style and musical prowess are distinctly her own.
Megan Vice believes she was born at the wrong time. “I should have been dancing with Downtown Julie Brown on the platform stages of Club MTV!” We have to agree because the video to “All of the Time” is a time capsule back to the “I want my MTV” days.
“I wanted it to feel like you were watching an eighties film like you just popped in a ‘Pretty in Pink’ or ‘Weird Science’ VHS,” she says. “Since the song is about a growing coast-to-coast digital romance, I wanted the visuals to express an ongoing fantasy, an alternate reality between me and my male counterpart (played by Gio Tuccio).”
The album’s first single, “All of the Time”, is about being into someone and owning the attraction with every fiber of your being. “It’s inspired by a relationship I had with a friend where there was a lot of sexual tension,” explains Vice. And, it’s our summer jam.
Megan Vice’s “Spread The News” releases July 15th, via Brooklyn indie Peace Bisquit.
