The Grammy Awards of 2016 is now a thing of the past. However, we should highlight a few of the performances.
Kendrick Lamar by far stole the entire show with his chains and shackles entrance. His entrance was more dramatic and just as important as Beyonce’s performance at the Super-bowl. Lamar’s performance was much more in your face because it addressed a specific concern today that a disproportionate number of black men in America are incarcerated. His performance is a powerful and moving statement.
Lady Gaga’s tribute performance to David Bowie was moving and visually appealing. The mix of music and technology was fascinating.
The B.B. King and Lionel Richie tributes were better than the overall performances. Sadly Grammy officials missed the opportunity to offer a tribute to Natalie Cole. In her lifetime Natalie Cole received nine Grammy awards from 21 nominations. We’re asking ourselves why she was “snubbed.”
The wrapping up of 2015’s music accomplishments with the Grammys inspired me to dig deep into my collection of music favorites. Music and how it affects us is far more greater than the awards themselves. The legacy of an artist and their music is what continues to breathe even when they are long gone.
There are artists who may never win a Grammy but who will inject emotion into our lives through their music.
Here are a few of my favorite songs who in my opinion are worthy of some Kinkster Mag recognition.
