Musically I never thought I would be listening to Selena Gomez. The track “Hands to Myself” is sultry, sexy and seduced me so much that I purchased her entire CD, Revival.

Revival is her second solo studio album. It was released on October 9, 2015, by Interscope and Polydor Records. Overall the CD is decent and I am pleasantly surprised that I love more than half the songs on the CD. I am not a big fan when music critics compare artists but in some parts of the CD and specifically, Hands to Myself and Me and My Girls her vocals sound a little like Shakira.

Steve Knopper from Newsday wrote, “something in Selena Gomez’s [sic] pop formula is nicely soft-spoken and mysterious…the album is frequently dark and ominous, full of torch songs, with just enough stylish electronic dance music synths and upbeat melodies to enliven the mood.” A statement I agree with wholeheartedly.

Hands To Myself is positioned as the third single from Gomez’ Revival, which spawned a #1 pop hit in “Good For You (featuring A$AP Rocky)” and the current #2 in the aforementioned “Same Old Love.” Gomez told TIME’s Nolan Feeney in September. “I feel like I tackled the love, I tackled the emotion and the heart and how I view the world.”

The video to Hands to Myself is perfectly matched to the lyrics of the song. Gomez strips down to her undies proving she is no longer a little girl but a sex-vixen with sex appeal.
