The winter months can be brutal on the skin so it’s important to moisturize during these crucial months. Damaging of the skin whether it be from the sun during the summer or the cold in the winter ages the skin; damage that is hard to reverse and repair. Once you reach the prime age of 40 preventive care is a must.
Protecting your skin from the cold prevents skin from aging quickly from the consistent dry skin during this time of year. “At this point it should be common knowledge that skincare isn’t just for women. A man’s face is made of the same stuff, and goes through as much turmoil as any woman’s.”
These days male grooming goes beyond the task of shaving and just washing your face daily. You have to do a little more than the basics. In my opinion the basics are necessary for a fresh and clean look but moisturizing is the key to preserving your skin.
Selecting the right moisturizer for your skin is easy if you know whether you have extra dry, dry, or oily skin. Purchasing a moisturizer doesn’t mean picking up the first thing you see at your local drug store and it doesn’t mean that will break the bank.
Here are 3 handpicked moisturizers for men I personally use and are good for any man on a budget.
Bull Dog – SkinCare for Men
Two of my favorite products are the Anti-Aging and the Original Body Lotion. No lie, within two weeks of using the anti-aging moisturizer I noticed a change in my skin, less wrinkles. What gay man over 40 doesn’t love a product that makes them feel and look 20 all over again. The Original Body lotion is luxury in a bottle. It’s packed with 8 essential oils, cocoa butter, aloe vera and avocado oil which helps nourish and rehydrate the skin. This is great because during the winter we tend to drink more alcohol so it’s important to rehydrate the skin.
Neutrogena Men Age Fighter Face Moisturizer
If you do want to pick something up from your local drug store then I highly recommend Neutrogena. I have used Neutrogena for years and have always been pleased with the results. Although, I haven’t used the product recently, it was my go-to product when I was 20-something. The lotion goes on nice and smooth to soothe sensitive skin and what I like most about this product is that it protects against UV rays to keep you looking like a young buck.
Kiehls Facial Fuel
If you live in NYC Kiehl’s is probably the one product you can find in a large of population of gay men’s medicine cabinets. If not, it’s time to add Kiehl’s to your shopping list. When you live in the city that doesn’t sleep you need something for post-hangover. The Kiehl’s Facial Fuel contains chestnut extract, which helps the skin form a barrier to maintain its lipids. If you have no clue what that means; it’s great for silky-smooth skin.
