When it comes to music I have an eclectic range of tastes allowing me to be introduced to a multitude of talent.
Recently I came across an EP entitled, 4WZ by Shy Girls; an EP I can’t stop raving about. I’ve been a fan of Shy Girls for a while so when I learned he had released new music I was thrilled.
This Portland artist is a talent everyone should be listening to. Even though his latest EP is 10 months old I can not stop listening to it especially Right, Alright.
Right, Alright is sexy and reminds me of two of my favorite songs from the Timeshare EP, Second Heartbeat and When I Say I Love You; two emotional, soulful and classic songs with a modern vibe.
The 4WZ EP is the follow-up to Timeshare; an EP I listen to religiously. When I heard Timeshare for the first time I was inspired, I become more creative and productive; a writer’s dream.
Billboard writes, “Shy Girls, the brilliantly emotional R&B project of Portland singer-songwriter Dan Vidmar, will follow the woozy six-song Timeshare EP with the soon-to-be-released 4WZ mixtape. Right, Alright takes the viscous beauty of songs like Second Heartbeat and Still Not Falling and presents Vidmar’s most confident vocal take to date. Under Attack and Second Heartbeat will leave you filled with feelings of wanting to make love, or be in love, or they will enhance your alone time.”
Shy Girls’ new songs find Dan Vidmar (Shy Girls) at his most vulnerable, murmuring the words of the title in a desperate attempt to repair his relationship. Jason Lipshutz is on point when he writes that Vidmar’s vocals on Right, Alright are his most confident vocals to-date. I can not recall the first time I heard Shy Girls but I do know I’ve been hooked ever since.
