The men’s underwear industry is booming! It’s estimated to be worth $6.5 billion and growing!

It’s’ interesting to see that 41% of the market wears briefs, 37% wear trucks, and 22% boxers. These most popular styles drive the market and designers to focus on our undergarments. The modern male of today is not interested in purchasing your basic “Fruit of Loom.” Men who invest in themselves are taking pride in their underwear especially when they post their selfies in their underwear all over social media.

A majority of men own between 15 and 20 pairs. They buy underwear 3 times a year spending more than $80.00. North American men wear more boxers and trucks whereas Europeans have a liking for briefs.

Different brands manufacture their underwear with various materials, cuts, features, and designs. Some names cater to current fashion trends while others focus solely on comfort. Many men find that a particular brand offers just the right fit that no others can match even in the same styles. It is a good idea to try out a few different names to find one that fits properly, provides support, and offers the most comfort.

When it comes to the color of underwear, white is a color I strongly advise against. Per Garcon Model, navy blue is the preferred color, ahead of black. However, for those daring enough, color briefs are sexy and you never have to worry about being caught with your pants down.

Whether you’re a boxer or boxer brief lover, it’s best to follow the same formula: black, gray, and blue are the standard colors. However, if you’re adored for strutting around the house in your cartoon boxers, I might recommend a little more sophistication by sporting tartan-plaid boxers or patterned microfiber boxers.

Underwear that is restricting can raise body temperature, causing excessive sweating that leads to stains. Increasing the temperature in the groin area over extended periods of time may also cause health and fertility problems. Elastics that are too tight around the waist or legs can cause irritation and rashes.

If you’re unsure of what size is best, use deductive reasoning. Remember the whole “If A=B and B=C, then A=C” spiel you learned in school? Now, it actually comes in handy. Apply it to all items of your clothing with an elastic waistband and see how your underwear measures up. If your gym shorts are a medium, your bathing suit is a medium, and the underwear you’re currently wearing is a medium, go with a size medium in your underwear. This deductive reasoning is further effective if you’re after underwear from a men’s underwear brand you’re already familiar.
