Those Harry’s ads follow me everywhere. We have become more accustomed to having conversations about, seeing more services for, and reading websites devoted to men’s grooming. We’re talking more about skincare for men, improved shaving practices, how to care for our facial hair, and men are more interested in developing better grooming practices. Well, there are actual numbers to support the fact there is a growth in the men’s grooming industry.

According to Euromonitor International, the men’s grooming industry is a $6.3 billion industry in the US. Their May 2015 report shows that in 2014 there was a 4% growth in current value terms in men’s toiletries which indicates that men are caring more about their grooming rituals beyond the traditional shaving experience.

Shaving remains an important part of the grooming routine, however, it is just one step of many for men. Statistica and ReportLinker report that interest in shaving and male grooming in general will continue to rise as the place of male celebrity is accorded greater importance; predominantly driven by the younger population. Although some of the major global brands, like Edge and Old Spice, have the greatest market share, demand for new and different products may see the market share of existing brands encroached upon by innovative products promising to meet consumer demand (ReportLinker).

Indeed there has been an increase in brands offering a more personal, non-mass marketed, or bespoke appeal. The more discerning male will look for something special to meet their grooming needs. The following will fit that bill:

B.A.B.E. of Brooklyn
Standing for beard and balm essentials, B.A.B.E. uses 100% certified organic ingredients to allow for the most natural care of beards. It uses no artificial coloring or scents. Created by Wil Allen, B.A.B.E. of Brooklyn has been developed using ongoing thought and intelligent effort, signs of a true gentleman.

MiN | The Art of Living

When visiting their private atelier in SoHo, NYC, you’re immediately drawn to explore the worldly scents and global objects of desire throughout the store. In addition to other luxury brands available at the shop, Chad Murawczyk and Mindy Yang have created a collection of “wearable olfactory art” called Scent Stories. Each scent was inspired by a vignette or memory, including one that came from how an astronaut described what he smelled when landing on the Moon.
