One of the leading causes of cancer death in men of all races, is prostate cancer. It is a very common cancer in men in the United States. In America, around 209,292 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year, and around 27,970 will die from it in the Unites States each year. This cancer is usually in older men around 65 years or older. Men under the age of 40, one in 10,000 is likely to be diagnosed ,and then the rate goes up for ages 40 to 59. African American men are 61% more likely to develop prostate cancer compared to caucasian men.

Hereditary plays a role as well in the developing of the disease. If a father or brother is diagnosed with prostate cancer, it is likely other family members will develop the disease as well.

The prostate gland is found only in men. It is found under the bladder, in front of the rectum. The prostate gland is also involved in urine control. The prostate cancer starts in the gland cells. Early stage of the cancer shows no symptoms. When symptoms exist, the person shows signs of, urinating more often, he may find it also hard to start urinating, blood in the urine, ejaculation may be painful, if advanced bone pain painful in the spine, also legs become more weak.

Treating of the disease depends on the grade and stage of where the cancer has progressed. Sometimes its best to do nothing, since some men live a long life with the disease. Others were unaware they had the disease, and it’s only when they passed away, and an autopsy was done they found out. Its best to consult with a urologist and an oncologist, for treatment.

Lifestyle plays a role in who is diagnosed with the cancer. For example, your diet is very influential, because it affects the hormone levels. Living a more holistic and healthy lifestyle will help in managing the disease, and increasing the chance of not getting the disease. Following a plant based diet by consuming steamed vegetables, raw vegetables, fruits, which provides more fiber and antioxidant intake , which helps prevent damage to the cells in the body. Also fish, and drinking green tea is an added benefit to the body. CO Q10, Lipoid acid, Vitamin E and C all very helpful.

Eliminate junk food, fried foods, sugar, non organic grass fed meat, all contribute to cancer and heart disease. Add herbal and nutritional supplements as part of your daily diet. Detox the body, which stores toxins that interfere with the body to heal. Limit exposure to cigarette smoking, especially if one is undergoing chemotherapy, which weakens the body’s immune system.

A plant based diet is definitely the go to diet for wellness. Healing begins when you take care of the body mentally and spiritually. Take a yoga class as an added benefit towards the path of healing and wellness. Make a change in your lifestyle because you only have one life, so lets begin to take care of it.
