Let’s just be honest – pimples sucks! They look bad, often times hurt, and do a number on your confidence. There are many causes for pimples such as clogged pores, shaving, oily skin, etc. but no matter what the cause we all want them to disappear. Ironically the same things that treat zits also prevent them from reoccurring. Let’s explore some of those treatment options, shall we?
Wash Your Face – Cleansing your face twice a day is an absolute must if you want to stay pimple free. Using a nice gentle face cleanser such as Zia ActiClean is a great way to battle acne because not only does it wash away all the gross bacteria, sweat, and pollution in the air, it also helps any acne fighting products you use after to work better.
Use a Moisturizer with Salicylic Acid – Once you have cleansed your skin, using a moisturizer that contains salicylic acid is extremely effective in treating and preventing acne. Salicylic acid unclogs pores and prevents the scarring that is sometimes caused from pimples. Nivea has a great moisturizer called Multi-Effect 8 Moisture Gel that works really well.
Carry Face Wipes – With everyone having increasingly busy lifestyles, finding somewhere to wash your face can be impractical (I do understand that a lot of public restrooms are filthy and therefore not an option). Keeping cleansing wipes handy such as the Dermalogica MediBac wipes is a great alternative. Using wipes is a convenient option for after the gym, traveling, or anytime that you want to wipe the gross build up that accumulates on your face during the day.
Don’t Touch Your Face – At least not without washing your hands first. As much as we would like to blame other people and unsanitary surroundings for the germs that cause pimples on our face, we have to look in the mirror for the majority of it. God only knows what is on the surface of the things that we touch on a daily basis, yet we use those same hands to touch our faces without washing our hands! Try to get into the habit of washing your hands frequently, and if that seems a little too OCD for you carry hand sanitizer and use it throughout the day to kill germs.
Drink Plenty of Water – Hydrating your body aids in maintaining clear skin. Water helps clear toxins out of your body. Water consumption alone is not enough to fight acne, but it plays an imperative part in fighting the battle of the zits. Drinking plenty of water, accompanied by a good skincare regimen will keep those annoying pimples at bay.
