Culture, Cell-Phones

Are you obsessed with your mobile device and if you say no…you’re lying. We all have a tiny obsession with our mobile devices because if you can’t leave home without it you’re obsessed.

Whether you’re checking emails, social media (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), or taking a selfie you probably are unaware of the actual number of times you pick up your phone. It’s even scarier when you learn that the average person is picking up and looking down at their phones throughout the day an average of 2 to 5 hours a day.

Buzzfeed Videos put the theory to the test and when people learned how much they REALLY used their phones they were pretty freaked out and so was I.

After watching the video, “Look Up,” I personally changed the way I use my phone to improve the way I communicate with others. However, the BuzzFeed video above “How often do you REALLY use your phone” has motivated even more; I’m sticking to my plan but now I am encouraged to change my daily usage so start picking up my phone less.

If you think you don’t use or pick up your phone that often, download the app “Moment.” Per the “Moment” info page, the app is an iOS app that automatically tracks how much you use your iPhone and iPad each day. If you’re using your phone too much, you can set daily limits on yourself and be notified when you go over. You can even force yourself off your device when you’re over your limit.
