What makes a gay man sexy? This was a recent random thought of mine after several people this past weekend referred to me as sexy. Whether it’s having a sexy smile, body, or personality, I wonder what makes basic characteristics of a man (person) sexier than the rest.
Webster’s defines sexy as “sexually suggestive, stimulating, generally attractive or interesting.” What stands out is ‘sexually suggestive’ because when someone labels me as sexy does that mean I am selling sex or giving off a vibe that reassembles sex?
I’ve been known to call someone sexy and now that I ponder on the image of sexy I am no longer sure what makes someone sexy. My past instances categorizing someone as sexy was based on my own desire or fantasies. Obviously, there’s more to it than just washboard abs or a butt you can bounce quarters off of. So once we get past the looks, what is it that keeps a man sexy in the eyes of another man?
Personality is the golden ticket when it comes to being sexy. It may sound cliche, but it’s true. Communication is the key to a successful relationship, so if he lacks in the personality department, conversation will be short and sweet but without value to the relationship. Like Rupaul says, charisma, nerve, uniqueness, and talent are the key elements not only for a drag queen but for a sexy-ass man.
“I’ve always believed that there’s nothing more powerful than a great looking, highly intelligent man. And if a man can stimulate the juices in our brain, then chances are that he can probably stimulate you know.”
Let’s forget good looks for a second. A manista who is well groomed, smiles brightly, and dresses himself carefully and with detail, most likely has the sexiness to take care of you. I’m not referring to Tom Ford suits and Gucci sunglasses, but rather a personal style and flair that are specific to his likes.
Lastly a sexy man knows how to attack his prey with his aroma. When a man picks the right cologne he becomes an alluring attacker. An animalistic fresh-smelling man to make another man do a double take in my opinion is the icing on the cake.
However, personally I find a man who is soulful and has rhythmic abilities is always a good sign that they can handle themselves behind closed doors. Not to say that a man will be judged solely on his playlist collection, but it does give you a glimpse into the things he’s into and what he likes.
Although the rest is subjective, when considering whether or not a guy is sexy it boils down to a man’s confidence and how he carries himself.
