Happy New Year, Happy New You. As we embark on this new year filled with hopes and desires for the year, we set intentions to make changes in our lives. The new year is a time for new goals for a better you, by being kinder and loving to yourself. Some people start the new year by going on a diet, taking out expensive gym membership only to quit after a few weeks.
For me, the new year is a time to reflect on the possibilities of what life has in store for me, to live knowing that each day is a blessing and a gift. Start the year off with small, manageable changes to your lifestyle that you can easily achieve. The first month of the year is a perfect time to reprioritize your life. Have a daily planner to set up tasks you want to achieve during the year. For example, during the past year, you spent a lot of money unnecessarily. Now, in the new year, you make it a priority to start saving money by making a plan to outline your budget and stick to it.
Instead of buying an expensive gym membership, why not start to eat healthier by going on a plant-based diet and cook more meals at home. Drinking lots of water is also helpful to detox the body. Also, instead of using the elevators, run up the stairs. In a study, they found out that people who climbed stairs for 10 minutes, was able to boost their energy and burned calories as well. Drinking less alcohol is also an advantage in losing weight.
Taking a yoga and meditation class would also help to fight stress and boost your energy. The practice helps relax your mind, and help you to have a good night’s sleep, and be ready for the dawn of the new day and achieve the task you have set for yourself. In order to live a whole life, you have to surround yourself with positive people, eat a plant-based meal. and have spirituality in your life.
Write in a journal is an amazing task to start in the new year. I keep a journal and I write daily in it. It is very good therapy. Also, start a Vision board. When you put out into the Universe what you want to accomplish, you are rewarded. I listen to a wonderful Spiritual podcast called Touching the Stillness by a Unity Minister Rev PaulettePipe. I once did an amazing task from the podcast where you had to write a love letter to yourself for 30 days and put it in the mail addressed to you. I can tell you that when I feel a bit down sometimes, I take out those letters which I have tied up with a ribbon and read it to myself. I get a very positive feeling and all my troubles are washed away after reading the beautiful words about myself. This is more than a great therapy session. It makes my day every time I have done this ritual.
Take some time away from your phone and relax. Read a good book and spend time with yourself. A walk in the park and commune with nature help to boost positive energy in your life. Make sure your home is clean and in order which is an added bonus to your feeling of contentment. Lastly, Meditate every day.
There is nothing you cannot accomplish if you set intentions for a better you.
