TrustBag vs. Flak Sack, Battle for the Worry Free Drawstring Backpack

Two bags have hit the scene this year, TrustBag and Flak Sack, both offering extremely similar features and style
Flak Sack vs. TrustBag

By now you’ve likely seen the videos for the “bulletproof” TrustBag developed by a German “startup.” Advertised as the perfect mix of premium material, technology, functionality, and design representing an eco-friendly and sustainable product. We never tested the TrustBag but were intrigued enough to do some research.

The videos are pretty hyped with significant claims. Several sites, forums, and blogs related to personal defense and firearms, however, have been debunking some of the company’s claims. And it seems that the company has scaled back on some of those claims as a result. Also problematic are the claims the company makes about having a network of companies to ship the product, yet in stock items ship in 5-6 weeks. Things that make you go, hmm…

As we did our research on secure, theft resistant bags, we came across the Loctote Industrial Bag Company which produces the Flak Sack: The ORIGINAL Theft-Resistant Drawstring Backpack. The developers of Loctote claim “some thieves stole our work and created an inferior knock-off of Loctote based on what they could learn from our website and crowdfunding campaigns.” They don’t name names, but I feel comfortable in drawing the connections.

The Flak Sack is being touted as the toughest (if not the only) worry-free drawstring backpack ever. It was designed to accommodate the lifestyles of people on the go needing to have their essentials with them, but not able to be constantly looking after them. This slash proof bag is a portable safe for your valuables. Simply lock the bag closed and to any secure object – and leave it without worrying about it being tampered with, damaged, or stolen.

The Flak Sack includes a secure locking system, extreme cut and slash resistant, offers industrial strength but with incredible softness, balanced drawstring ropes, RFID blocking technology, and it’s water resistant.

Roughly 550 of the fhe Flak Sacks have been shipped through a Kickstarter campaign and another 1,900 backers have signed up for their sacks on Indiegogo with an estimated November 2016 delivery.

We love the idea for such a small, light, secure bag for our daily commute, day at the beach, or for the occasional “meet up.” We’re placing our confidence in the Flak Sack and the Loctote Industrial Bag Company. We have to echo what several of the firearms and personal defense sites mention, it’s up to you to be mindful of how “secure” your belongings are. Locks can be broken quite easily by thieves who are after something they find of value.

Disclaimer:  As of 2/26/17, we conducted a review of both bags and the Loctote Industrial Bag Co.’s Flak Sack was our favorite.  We highly recommend the Flak Sack over the TrustBag.  See our review
